As the world shakes itself down from being put on hold by a global pandemic people are longing to move more freely again, to get together and feel alright again, and to dance to a new tune.
‘Jump Up’, the debut release by London based group Coolhurst Sound featuring Abie One could well become one of the songs on the soundtrack of this return to freedom.
Coolhurst Sound formed towards the end of 2019 in the unusual setting of a former residential care home in Crouch End North London. Over 20 people lived in the premises in cheaply rented out rooms and it was here that Daniel Josephs (Londoner) met Nemo Shaw (Scotsman) and the two decided to form their music production partnership. They shared a love for 80s and 90s synth pop music and wanted to make great music that made people feel good, and feel like getting up to dance to.
In the early days they would jam out ideas on an old Casio keyboard with flashing keys and an out of date macbook to create the beats. One particular track stood out and Dan took it with him to Kingston, Jamaica while visiting family and friends and played it to Jamaican artist Abie One. Abie One loved the track and wrote his own verse to it. Back in London during the first UK lockdown, Dan and Nemo crafted the final tune by sending material back and forth to Kingston and the final result was created.
They decided to wait until the pandemic was on the way out before releasing it so that people could enjoy it in parties, dancefloors, bedrooms, and everywhere freely.
That time is now. Jump Up will be released on all major music platforms on 1st March 2022.

COOLHURST SOUND is a music writing and production duo formed in London in 2019. Their mission is:
"To create great music that makes people feel good, and that they can get up and dance to."
They met by chance when Dan (Londoner) and Nemo (Scotsman) shared cheap digs as property guardians looking after a former residential nursing home in Crouch End. They connected around a common love of 80s and 90s synth based music and a desire to make great hit records.
With over 20 people living in the shared property (including several artists and singers), the duo were able to try different ideas and collaborations. The hook for the first single came up when they were jamming with housemates in the huge living room on a semi-broken old-skool Casio keyboard with flashing keys!
When Dan went back to visit his relatives in Jamaica, he played the demos and got an amazing reaction. His friend – Kingston based artist, Abie One, was keen to get involved. Tracks were sent back and forth from London to Kingston through whatsapp to make the music happen.
The result is Coolhursts’ first single: ‘Jump Up’, featuring Abie One. An international link-up between London, Scotland and Jamaica. Old School synth pop vibes, irresistible hooks, awesome groove, and a creative freshness, gives this music a unique flavour.
Jump Up is released on all major platforms on 1st March 2022.
Enjoy!
